Biography
I started artistically late in life. My parents cautioned me to stay away from art related careers and to pursue a serious occupation that would lead to “real jobs and a stable career,” which I did, becoming a metrologist.
Born in Seattle, Washington, growing up as the daughter of an engineer, it is small wonder that I ended up pursuing a career in the sciences. During my childhood I traveled through out the United States as my father moved from one project to another, finally finishing up my childhood in Charlotte, North Carolina.
During my early adult life, I traveled the world as a member of the United States Armed Forces, spending most of my enlistment in Korea and Germany. During this time I met my husband of 25 years and share three teenage children with him.
My interest in the visual arts was revived shortly after my father’s death in2007 when I inherited my father’s French easel, paints and brushes, none of which had been used since he was a student at the University of Washington during the 1950’s. Since that time I has been experimenting with various oil painting mediums, themes and techniques.
